No clothing items will be allowed to be brought to Inmates housed at the Minnehaha County Jail. Inmates that are housed at the Minnehaha County Corrections Center will be allowed to either bring in or have brought in the following items only once:
5 pairs of underwear
5 T-shirts without pockets
5 pairs of socks
3 wireless bras
Inmates housed at the Minnehaha County Jail or the Minnehaha County Corrections Center may have 5 photographs (no Polaroid's or inappropriate material).
A hygiene kit is provided upon checking into jail. This kit contains soap, shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste, and a comb. You will have access to a razor in the morning. After that you will be required to purchase any additional hygiene items.
Clothing and items allowed on work release
You will be allowed to bring any clothes that will fit in your work release locker. If it does not fit in your locker it is not allowed. Work release inmates are allowed to bring in a 1 combination padlock - no keys.
Fees associated for sentenced inmates
If you are a Minnehaha County sentenced inmate, you will be charged a $10.00 day fee for everyday you are sentenced. If you are serving a sentence for another county you will not be charged $10.00/day by Minnehaha County.
Mail Service
To mail a letter to an inmate, address the letter as follows. Mail is delivered as the post office delivers. Any contraband mailed to an inmate will be prosecuted. All mail must be delivered by the US Post office. We do not accept mail delivered by hand.
Packages sent to an inmate
Any Packages sent will need prior approval by a Sergeant before it is mailed. If it is not approved, the package will be returned to the sender.

Work Release Program
There is a per day charge for each day you are on the work release program, whether you work or not. This fee is subject to change anytime.
Inmates sentenced in Minnehaha County
There is a $27.00 per day charge for everyday that you are sentenced.
Inmates sentenced in any county other than Minnehaha
There is a $32.00 per day charge for everyday that you are sentenced.
When you turn yourself in to begin serving your sentence on work release a person must have money up front in order to begin the program. If you do not have the money, you will not be eligible for the program. The following is a list of the money required when you report to the work release facility. The amount you need to bring depends on what day you report.

Payments are in exact amounts, broken down into work release, urinalysis, and ID.
There is a $15.00 fee for urinalysis. This fee must be paid prior to testing. You will not be eligible for a retest for five days should you fail your original test. You will have to pay for each retest. EXACT CHANGE IS REQUIRED!
There is a $5.00 fee for an ID card. This card must be turned in when you are released. EXACT CHANGE IS REQUIRED!

After the first week is paid, the weekly fees are listed below:

Out of County $224.00
The payments are due on Sunday by 11:00 p.m. for the balance of the sentenced time.
Requirements before you begin work release
Prior to beginning your sentence you will need to fill out a work release application. Work release applications are filled out at 1900 W. Russell Street, Sioux Falls, SD.
After you have filled out the application, you will need to forward paperwork to your employer and have your employer contact the work release office. The sooner your employer contacts the work release center the smoother the work release process will be for you.
Self employment on Work Release
If you are self employed you will need to bring in tax forms from the two previous years, as well as valid tax license, and insurance.
Requirements for driving a vehicle on work release
Valid drivers license, valid work permit, valid insurance listing you as a driver.
